New Server

I recently received this walnut server from my Mom who has moved to a smaller condo.  I have always loved the look of it and thought the slate top really made it stand out.

So I was really happy to see that it was also out on the 1stDibs website!

I'm still working on what I want on top but am loving the look so far. My Mom always did have an eye for the classics.

Happy Tuesday!

Who doesn't love new pillows?

I love new pillows & especially the ones from Frontgate that use the indoor/outdoor Sunbrella fabric. The colors are so vibrant and their use of cording, etc is great.  How about buying them for $19 each? What? Seriously, you can get them for $19 each if you live in the local area.  These are listed as 'samples' and selling at our local Frontgate Outlet Center.  I saw these pillows there yesterday:

retails for $189

retails for $129

retails for $119

retails for $139

retails for $159

I bought 2 of the following woven pillows that normally retails for $149 each:

There were 4 large boxes of pillows. Check it out if you are in town!

Updated Sofa Table

Do you have a sofa table that fits your space but needs an update? That's what I had in my living room so I decided to make a change.   I don't have a picture of just the table but it's behind the sofa and you can see the top is boring glass:

And here is the after.  We used the old glass top as a template and traced it on to cardboard.  This was used by the local tile/marble shop to make the new top. I picked the statuary white marble slab and they turned it around in 3 days.  We are very happy with the result!

I have this small marble table that I found a while ago at GW. Still one of my favorite finds.

Loving marble these days!

I follow our local libary on instagram & was surprised when one of their posts mentioned a new area coming to our downtown Main library.  It's called Makerspace & consists of several work stations such as 3D printers, laser engraving, sound recording booth, vinyl banner printing, VHS to DVD conversions, a sewing center, button maker and the list goes on. You can sign up for free classes or request a one-on-one learning session.  I decided to go and check it out.

I was mostly interested in the laser engraving machine. It can engrave on steel, wood, plastic and glass.

After a recent trip to Goodwill where I found 2 heavy glass vases, I decided to take them with me to the library to see if I could engrave them.   I also brought a USB that was loaded with 2 of my monograms. You can create your own in Word, Adobe, etc. and the engraving machine can read most file types.  With some help from the librarian, we were able to get started with DIY engraving!

How fun is that?  The librarian mentioned that several other large cities have their own Makerspace centers and that the general consensus among libraries is that learning is now becoming more digital and hands on.   Do you have this in your town?  We are lucky here in Cincinnati for our awesome library.
