Monkey Bread

Funny name, eh?  But this cake is so delicious & easy. I recently made this & plan to make this for Easter this year.    This is one of those comfort foods.

4 cans refrigerated biscuits
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 1/2 sticks butter (3/4 cup)
1/2 cup white sugar
2 Tablespoons cinnamon
1/2 cup raisins or crushed walnuts (these are optional, it's great with or without them)

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and grease a 9-10 inch tube pan.

2. Mix white sugar and cinnamon in a medium sized plastic bag. Cut the biscuits into halves or quarters and place six to eight biscuit pieces in the sugar cinnamon mix. Shake well.

3. Arrange pieces in the bottom of the greased pan. Continue layering until all the biscuit pieces are coated and in the pan. If you are using raisins, place them among the biscuit pieces as you are layering.

4. In a small saucepan, melt the butter with the brown sugar over medium heat. Boil for 1 minute. Pour over the layered biscuits.
5. Bake for 35 minutes. Let bread cool in pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a plate.
Some people make this bread with an icing on top.  I don't do that as it is sweet enough as is. Enjoy!

Have a great day :)

Fabric Sale

Are you a fan of Amy Butler fabrics?  If so, you are in luck.  Banasch's is having a sale on her fabrics & they are adorable. I blogged about Amy Butler a while ago & just love all of her prints.  Here are some samples:

Aren't they pretty? And the employees at Banasch's are so helpful.

Kitchen Update

We started this project in February & am finally here to show the finished kitchen.   Here is the before:

It was time to change the paint color to a cooler color & the tile back splash needed to go. I painted the kitchen in 1 night & used Valspar's Paint/Primer in Notre Dame. 1 coat is all it needed. Love that!  I did a few other minor changes like spray painted all the switch plates again back to silver. Gotta love the spray paint.  Here is the after:

We bought a new microwave & had to move the cabinet above it up & add new crown molding.

Here is a close up of the marble tile. It is honed carrara marble:

I was inspired by this picture that I found out on the incredible 'Cote de Texas' blog. Lots of gorgeous homes & pics out on that blog, if you've never checked it out before.  I loved the clean look of the bar stool & thought my bar stools could use an update.

We spray painted them using the leftover wall paint:

What projects have you been working on?  I'll have to start thinking about my next project. :)

Happy Thursday!

Blogs I ♥♥♥

We all have blogs that we enjoy reading. I like to be able to update my 'Blogs I ♥♥♥' tab on the right side of my blog when I find new & interesting reads. One that I recently added that doesn't fit the usual 'decorating' type blog, is the Vanguard Blog.  Today's post is 'Everyone loves a Bargain'.  Check it out if you are interested in cost savings in personal finance!

Have a Happy Monday!

Pic of the day.  How about this sunken shower in your next bathroom?  Interesting but not much privacy.  I am not sure if I would go this route but thought it was worth posting. What do you think?

Paint your ceiling purple!

I enjoy painting walls or furniture. I do not enjoy painting ceilings. How about when you are painting the walls & get paint on the ceiling? That's always fun.  The other day, I was at Lowe's & talking to the paint guy.  We got talking about ceilings & he mentioned the 'purple paint' for ceilings. I had never heard of this.  The ceiling paint goes on purple, but then dries white. The obvious benefit is that when painting the ceiling, the purple color will tell you where you have already painted. I think it sounds like a great idea & I'll be using this the next time we do the ceiling.

Here is a video review of the paint. What do you think? Would you use the purple paint?

Happy Monday!

Pin of the day

Everyone is loving Pinterest these days so I thought I would post one of my latest favorite pins. This is an awesome family room & I am loving the ceiling, the carrara marble fireplace, the gray sofa & the gray rug.

What I think is even more interesting is how I found this picture. Yes, I did pin it but I didn't find it on Pinterest. Have you gone to Houzz & clicked on the main picture in the heading? (ok, so most of you probably have, but this was new for me).  You can click for a fullscreen picture & these are some of the most beautiful interior shots.

You might want to give Houzz a try.  I did see this below on Pinterest & after checking out all the gorgeous pics, I have to say this was true. :)

Wishing you a happy Friday & TGIF!
