Railings

We have a thing at our house about railings. We love railings & I've mentioned before, that we love all things metal.     Here is a pic of our basement railings:

We've been working on the backyard project forever, and finally received in the railing material.  We ordered all the material from a local company, C.M. Mockbee.    Happy to report that the railings are now finished!   Here was an inspiration pic we used:

Here is a before shot of the area:

Here are some progress pics:

These end pieces will be clipped & plugged with a cap.

This picture shows why we need a decent railing. There is about a 10' drop off to the basement steps.

Gotta love progress. Hopefully, we can get to the bar table soon...the granite top is in the pic above leaning on the wall of the porch. Getting there.

Happy Tuesday!

A Twist on Bead Board

Lots of people love the traditional beadboard application like the one below:

While this is a popular look, it's not something I would install. However, this powder bathroom completed in a chevron beadboard is something I would seriously consider:

I love the pattern & think it looks clean & crisp. The coral accessories are perfect with the navy grass cloth wallpaper.  Click this link for the before and after.

Wishing you all a fun weekend & TGIF!

Thank you Versatile Blogger!

A big thanks to Tiffany at Living Savvy for nominating me for the Versatile Blogger award!  So sweet!

Here's how this award works.  I list 7 things about me & then grant this award to
other bloggers I love & read!!  Here goes:

1. I love Goodwill & do awesome there finding treasures!  There is 1 in our city that I think is the best & it is on Springfield Pike

2. I would rather shop for my house than for clothes. I love our local Homegoods & TJ Maxx for great home  decor.

3. One of my favorite things to do is cut our grass. I have a big Ford 1210 tractor that is all mine!

4. I sell welding equipment in our family business & love all things metal.

5. Our girls have been very involved in volleyball so I consider myself a lifelong volleyball Mom.

6.  My white iphone is the best phone ever.  I am still trying to figure out more & more apps & someone just mentioned the app 'Find my iPhone'.  Also, TJ Maxx is a great place to find fun phone covers.

7.  I love blogging & think it is a great way to keep learning new things & to keep track of projects that we've completed around the house.

Here are some of my favorite bloggers that I am passing this award to!!

Wishing you a Happy Monday!

Outdoor Spaces

It's that time of year when the leaves are starting to fall & it just smells like fall.  Though I love the summer & really don't want to put away all of my blue/green summer accents, I enjoy this time of year.  We are still progressing on our outdoor space & finally got the cables in for the railing.  Here is a few recent pics:

And more pics of some great inspirational outdoor spaces:

Are you a fan of dark floors?

A friend of mine & I were talking about hardwood. Dark hardwood.  She is considering putting it in her family room & down the hallway & I'd love to do put in our master bedroom. I know lots of people complain you can see all the dust & dirt, but what other pros/cons are there??  Some great examples of dark floors:

I'm pretty convinced that dark hardwood floors would look awesome.

MIA

Hi guys, been a little missing in action lately & haven't blogged much. Too much going on at this time of year with school, volleyball, kids moving back out, etc. but we did manage to make some progress this weekend on a project that's been going on for a while now.  We found the granite top to our bar table that will be going outside on the deck. If you are local, Surplus Warehouse is a great resource for DIY projects.  My husband is making the metal frame & the granite will sit on top.

Needed to secure the granite to the frame we built to make sure it wouldn't crack while transporting it home.

We have the steel for the frame & hope to get to that soon!

On a random note, stumbled upon an awesome blog this weekend.
She has lots of great tips on DIY hair, cooking, etc..   Like this hairstyle below, love it!
She is also on Pinterest with some great hair styles:
