Sam Moon

Have you ever heard of Sam Moon?   I just got back from visiting my sister who lives in McKinney TX & we had a great time shopping at Sam Moon.  They've now expanded to Home Decor but it was a bit too much like Kirkland's for my taste so over to their jewelry store.  Here's some of the finds:

Geneva White watch:  $9.99.  Also bought it in black for one of the girls!

belts...$11.99 each!

necklace....love that price! And the chain was $2.95.  We also visited a furniture store called The Dump on our way back to DFW.  I've read several bloggers who go there & have great luck. Us? Not so much.

TX is an amazing place for shopping! And for visiting sisters!

Cincinnati Craigslist finds!

I know lots of bloggers do this but found these things recently and thought you'd enjoy!

Coffee table $10....painted white would look great.

Do you shop Craigslist? I have a few times and it's amazing what you can find.  Not many posts this week since I am busy watching at a volleyball tournament in a nice and sunny spot!

Chandelier revamp - Part1 !

What do you do with those annoying, old, it's-now-over campaign signs that we all get stuck putting in our yards?  You know, these:

You save them to use the wire and the handy husband makes me my birthday present. I've always liked this dining room chandelier but decided it needed an update since I changed up the space recently.  Here it is with the little black shades:

And here it is before the revamp all clean and naked:

Here was my inspiration:

Gorgeous but still too expensive for me

More reasonably priced but our real problem was finding a drum shade that was large enough.  We needed a diameter of 32".  So, we had to make it!

Step 1: ring made out of the campaign signs:

We put the ring on the chandelier to make sure it fit. Since we didn't want to take down the chandelier, this ring fits from the bottom up.

I've already bought the 3 yards of black organza from Hancock Fabrics so here is what's left to do:

Spray paint the ring
Sew the fabric around the ring

Stay tuned for the final result!

House Beautiful Cincinnati!

Here are some shots of a gorgeous house for sale here in Cincinnati  (yes I am an MLS stalker and I don't know the owners) that has a sweet mirrored wall that I keep going back to!  I also love the marble in the kitchen and the mirror above the fireplace. The house is located in Mt. Adams which is a great area that overlooks the Ohio River & in walking distance to bars and restaurants. You can click the image to enlarge it.

That mirror is awesome and love the green and black contrast

I will do this to my basement steps some day.
So if you have $1,699,900 you don't know what to do with, this house is yours!

Sofa table and stripes!

I haven't been painting in a few weeks so I was glad to have this little project.  What do you do with an ugly, shiny, oak sofa table that you couldn't get rid of on Craigslist and sat in the corner of your bedroom collecting junk & dust?  You paint it!   Here are the before/afters:

Just might need to move the golf clubs...whoops!

Lightly sand with the palm sander. See the nice
shiny varnish on top?

First coat of paint

Total Cost:
white semi-gloss paint: free (leftover from trim project)
gray paint:  free (left over from diningroom)
knob:  $1 from Michaels

Love Orchids!

I recently purchased a white orchid from Home Depot and had no idea how easy they are to care for.  So, since it's random Friday, I thought I'd tell you how I care for my orchid every Friday!

See this:

That's right....that's all this lovely flower gets per week is 3 ice cubes placed on the top.  Easy as can be and it has been blooming & growing nicely.  Now that's my kind of plant.

Wishing you all a Happy Friday & a fun weekend!!

Do you have a real Gap Outlet?

We have a Gap Outlet near the Cincinnati airport that is awesome!  Now, this isn't like the Gap you see at some of the outdoor 'outlets' that are usually not any cheaper than shopping at a mall.  This is the real outlet.  Some people don't think it's awesome because you do have to look closely at what you are buying to make sure there aren't any rips or tears, but there are deals to be had!  My 3 girls & I love the Gap Outlet!

Here's some recent finds:

This is the Banana Republic Gia strappy sandal.  Found it here but we found it at the outlet for $24.99 and in the cognac color!

Gap raw-edge denim skirt. Found it here but we found it for $4.99!

Groove wedge.  Found it online here & Outlet had them for $19.99.
(these are for the shorty in our group)

Found these Long & Lean here, but we found them at the Gap Outlet for $6.99!  The nice thing about Gap is you can get the pants in Longs and X-Long!

Banana Republic white denim shorts for $9.99. Found them here.

Naughty Monkey strappy sandal for $4.99!  Yes!  Found them online here.   Our Gap Outlet seems to be carrying other brand names than just Gap, Old Navy & Banana Republic.

You need to check it out if you are in our area!
