Horse Country!

I've always loved horses but have never owned one. I used to want one as a kid but now, not so much.  We live near a farm that has Belgium work horses and they are gorgeous (and huge!) animals. This pic looks alot like them:

I've taken note of several horse decor items while out shopping at Ballards:

or online at Z:

I've noticed that I've already got several horse items around my house:

My latest find via Burlington Coat Factory:

These horses are fun to look at and a lot easier to take care of. Do you have a favorite animal in your home decor?

Check back next week for my CSN giveaway.  Wishing you all the best for this holiday weekend!

Summer Salad

Sticking to my theme of 'easy' when it comes to cooking, this is a great summer salad that only has 4 ingredients. One of which is the key!

-cherry tomatoes, halved
-sliced or diced cucumber
-sliced red onion

and the secret ingredient?
Briannas Real French Vinaigrette!

Delish with no sugar and no carbs. That works for me!

Dining Room Progress

Making progress on the dining room transformation from where we started here.  This weekend, I finished painting the bow window & the husband put up the curtain rod:

I bought the rod at Target which had the best price & the faux silk curtains are from Bed Bath & Beyond:

I finally decided on this Waverly Fabric for the dining room chairs & just want to say that finding gray/white stripe was not easy but I am so happy with it:

And a charcoal colored microfiber on the 2 parson chairs:

The chairs are not a DIY project since my hand is numb from painting & there is no way I can pulled 4026 staples out of all these cushions.  Hopefully, they are finished this week. I also found  new lamps at Homegoods:

I have really enjoyed this project but as usual, am ready for it to be finished since I have my sights on another project.    Bye Bye red!

Happy Monday!

Still loving stripes!

After I recently finished the stripes in my powder room

I began doing google searches on striped fabrics and came to realize that finding a nice gray striped upholstery fabric (in stock) is really hard to come by!!!

During my searches (on Decorati which is one of my favorites)  I also came by this photo & thought the use of stripes made such a statement in this office:

You can click the link for more stripe pics & a great article  'Spruce up a Space with Stripes

Saving $$ on auto insurance?

I know, what a boring topic!!  But this issue has come up recently in our house since so many of our cars are getting high on mileage. The time has come to determine which cars to drop the collision coverage. Have you considered this as a way to save money? Though there aren't any hard rules on when to drop the coverage, when you have 151,000 miles on a 2003 car, it might make sense to drop it & save the extra $.  For more info on this, click here.

Wishing you all a Happy Friday and weekend!!

Next big hit!

Ok, so most of us aren't home by 4 in the afternoon to check out Oprah, but I did catch this late in her show yesterday & think its' worthwhile. This young singer Charice has an amazing voice & Oprah has helped propel her career.  Check out her new hit single singing along with another up & coming star Iyaz with David Foster on the piano.

Dining Room Part 2

Making progress on the dining room from here where we started.  (Did I mention I am so psyched to be doing this project? Yes!)   I painted the gray (Valspar Granite Dust) on the walls & only needed 1 coat (can I get another Yes!).  That Valspar paint & primer is amazing.  We are really happy with this color.

And moving on to the wainscoting.  We measured & priced it out to buy the individual pieces of trim vs buying the pre-made panels at Lowe's & decided to go with the pre-made:

I was on clean-up duty:

Installing the trim. That's the handy husband - he's not real big on getting his pic taken:

Still have some work to do but it has already updated the dining room so much!

Stay tuned!
