Cincinnati Art Museum

Yesterday afternoon we had some time to visit again the Cincinnati Art Museum.  The Museum is free to all and they currently have exhibits that interested both myself & the husband.  Until Jan 30, 2011, they will be displaying "Wedded Perfection:  Two Centuries of Wedding Gowns" which I thought was really fascinating.

My husband was more interested in the "Heavy Metal: Arms & Armor".

I wish we could have posted some personal photos' for you to see but there is a no-camera policy at the Museum.  If you've never been to the Art Museum, the building itself is worth seeing & you can always catch a nice lunch or dinner in Mt. Adams afterwards.

Easy Wasabi Appetizer

I love wasabi & just had this appetizer over the weekend. Easy & tastey and with all of the holiday parties coming up, you might like to make it as well!

1 package (8 oz.) low-fat cream cheese
2 tablespoons Kikkoman Soy Sauce
2 to 3 tablespoons Wasabi paste
2 tablespoons sesame seed, toasted

Place cream cheese in shallow dish. Cut cream cheese horizontally down the middle. Spread Wasabi paste all over, then place cream cheese top back on. Pour soy sauce over cream cheese; let stand at room temperature about 2 hours, turning over occasionally.  Remove cream cheese from soy sauce and "roll" in sesame seed.  Cover carefully with plastic wrap and chill in refrigerator until ready to serve.  Serve with crackers.

Random Friday

Since today is Friday & the start of a fun weekend, thought I'd post a video of one of my all time favorites, Bruce Springsteen. He was on the Jimmy Fallon show this week to sing his new song "Save My Love".  Happy Friday!
UPDATE:  That video was removed from YouTube for copyright violations. Here's another version:

A visit to DC!

This weekend, we were back up in Baltimore & decided to take the day on Saturday to check out DC & all of the war memorials.  We also visited Arlington National Cemetery & watched the changing of the guard at the tomb of the unknown. It was an awesome experience & a great way to show our respect for our Veterans.  Here are some pics as well as a video of the changing of the guard if you've never experienced it.

Jefferson Memorial

Washington Monument

WW II Memorial

Vietnam Memorial

Lincoln Memorial

Korean War Memorial

Arlington National Cemetery & The Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown.  Note the veterans in the back right corner. They are in DC as part of the Honor Flight mission that takes veterans to DC & Arlington for a free visit to show their appreciation for all they did to serve their country.

Latest Read

This is my first (audio) reading of James Patterson & have to say, I love it!  This book didn't get a great review but I've enjoyed this murder mystery & plan on getting more.  I always pre-order my books & audio books from our local library.  What is your latest read?

Happy Thursday!

Zig Zag paint job!

I was inspired by this post on Knights Move about these beautiful ceramic vases & lamps!

And, decided I was tired of this lovely piece of ceramic faux-painted vase that needed an update:

I primed it & painted it white & started with the blue tape in the chevron pattern:

Then covered it in a layer of black spray paint:

Let dry and remove the blue painter's tape.
Can you say epic fail?!!

Oh well. It now sits on the shelf in the garage
until I decide to pitch paint it again!

Latest Goodwill trip!

I am loving my latest GW finds.  White serving dishes always come in handy, especially with the holidays around the corner. Here's what I've found this last visit (Wyoming store on Springfield Pike):

I researched the Pizzato name (made in Italy) but couldn't find much.

Same with the Bizzirri name?!

I did find a similar sized tray at Crate & Barrel for $45.95.   I think I'll keep the $3 GW tray.
And last but not least, my white/black bowl for $4. It had a Target sticker under it for $9.99.

Gotta love Goodwill.
Enjoy your weekend!
