Google Chrome or No?

I have a daughter who has been after me for awhile, 'Mom, so have you downloaded Chrome yet or what?'.   So, I finally did & have to say I am really happy with it. It is a way faster browser than before & its' searching capabilities are much faster.

Here is a website  discussing Google Chrome and the pros & cons if you are interested.  There are some wise (financial) people out on this forum if you want to search on other data.

Garden Stool Update!

Thanks to everyone who voted in the poll regarding which color to paint the  $20 Big Lots ceramic garden stool!   The winning choice was silver so that's what it is:

Original State:

Couple coats of spray primer. Hope I didn't get any on that awesome tractor tire!

1st coat of high gloss silver/chrome using this that was already in the garage (along with the other 44 cans of spray paint):

And the finished product!

Not bad for $20!

UPDATE:  A friend of mine contacted me because she wanted to find one of the $20 drums to paint also. Here's hers finished. Gotta love the spray paint!

And was on the hunt for some good brass cleaner & decided to try this:

Seemed to brighten things up:

I also found this stool that needed some work:

Few coats of white spray paint:

Some new fabric & its' ready to go!

I had some fabric leftover so had to update the chair in the room:

Big Lots $20 Ceramic Garden Stool!

I posted about the garden stools available at Big Lots for $20,  but must say that I had a really hard time finding one.   I contacted the PR department at Big Lots & they emailed me a report from their system showing all the available garden drums in my local area. How about that for good customer service??

I was looking for the white ceramic drum but the closest store only had the blue!

No problem since I was thinking of painting it anyway. But what color to paint it:

What color would you paint one? Please vote at the poll on the sidebar.

Check out what Odi et Amo has to say about ceramic garden stools!

Powder Room Update!

I am playing along with one of my favorite bloggers, Decorating Obsessed, who is having a 'Just Paint It Challenge Party' today. Although my project isn't 100% complete, I was so excited about her party & wanted to show where I am at so far.

I'm kind of over the red phase like lots of other folks out there lately.  This is the bathroom off the kitchen and next to the laundry room and the one that everyone uses when they come over.   I decided it was time to update this space and wanted to try horizontal stripes look that is all over blog land.  Here is the before shot:

Painting the window trim white:

I primed the room and then painted it again with a coat of  blinding white as well as painted the ceiling:

Then taped off the stripes and went over the edges with a credit card. I think that really helped seal the tape & made sure no paint seeped in.  Removal of the toilet & the door helped out alot.

I used Benjamin Moore Putnam Ivory as my stripe color. This is the same color as in the kitchen but it looks so much different in this smaller space:

Had my eye on the carrara marble vanity top at Lowe's but not in the budget at the moment. Mostly because a new carrara vanity top would then lead to a new white toilet, etc. You get the pic:

New rug on clearance at TJ Maxx:

Spray painted the switch plates:

New wall decor:

Still left to do:
-paint light fixture
-install new faucet
-hang curtains

I'll post a final picture later this week!

My Thrifty Finds!

I am linking up with Southern Hospitality's Thrifty Treasures & Coastal Charm's Thrifty party & wanted to post my latest Goodwill finds. Love that store!
I am really starting to collect bookends and love these armillary spheres.  I am in the process of cleaning these up & looking for a great brass cleaner like my favorite silver cleaner.

Little white spray paint & some new straps and this will be good to go. I have a daughter who comes home from college with a HUGE piece of luggage that will fit nicely on this instead of all over the floor...hint hint!
