Closet Towel organization

I've said it before, but we are metal obsessed here at our house.  The closet in our master bathroom is in need of some organization.  So, after reading in blog land here at one of my favorite blogs, Thrifty Decor Chick, we decided to further enhance this & using stainless metal dryer vent.   These are light-weight & make sure that if one towel is pulled out, an avalance will not occur.

Then out to the shop to cut them:

Had to sand the top edge so it wasn't sharp anymore:

Now to spot weld them together with an ancient old foot operated spot welder:

Still working on further organization, but you get the pic!

Friends & Decorating

Have you ever had the same friend since the 2nd grade?  You know, one that lived in your neighborhood, went to your same school, walked with to school, dated boys in the same group in high school? Here's an old pic of us back in the day. (can't believe I am posting this!)

We don't see each other all the time but we still have a connection each time we  talk.  She loves decorating & has a gorgeous house that will hopefully be a future post.  Here's a quick look at her new gorgeous kitchen:

She sent me this pic of an easy, frugal DIY decorating idea.  Funny thing is, I sent back to her that I also have the same thing in my house.

Here's a few from my house:

Its' a good thing to keep that connection with old friends!!

Two things I love... around my home!

I am playing along with  '2 things I love.....around my Home'.   You might want to check out the fun links there.  So, after walking around the house, I decided to show two pieces are that are very simple but have always been special to us.  Both were given to us by my husbands Uncle who used to save everything.  Here are my 2 favs!

This carrara marble mortar and pestle is very old. I like to put glass marbles in it:

This turquoise Ball jar that is soon to get some fresh flowers in it:

Enjoy the weekend!!

TLC's Accidental Fortune show?

Why is this lady smiling?  Because she has the oldest and most valuable baseball card of the Cincinnati Red stockings in existence and she found it in a rummage sale box. (sidenote: no this isn't my grandma but really really looks like her).

Has anyone watched this show yet on TLC?  It's awesome and documents people who have accidentally come across a fortune in unexpected places.  One person found a print at a consignment store that ended up selling for $250,000.

Another story was about a guy from Newark Ohio who was getting ready to build a golf course on his property. As the backhoe went into the ground, it hit something hard. Turns out it was the full skeleton of a prehistoric mastodon which was then extracted from the ground. The guy sold it for $600,000 but not until he made a full cast of the animal. He now makes and sells the replica to museums & it has become his 2nd career.  Now that was a smart move!
It airs on TLC at 10:00PM.  If you've got an accidental fortune, click here to get more info on this new program & getting your story out.

Here is a youtube video of an upcoming show (I promise the show is faster moving than this video):

Question of the Day?

What do these 3 items have to do together?

After getting a sinus & bronchitis infection and making a trip to the Kroger clinic to get a 3 day Z-pak (this stuff is awesome!!), the doc suggested always using the mask when spray painting!  haha.

Skyline Chili Dip

If you are ever in Cincinnati, you have to stop by Skyline Chili for some coney's or a 3-way.   Its' a different tasting chili than a Texas-style chili but if you're from Cincinnati, you are a huge fan.  This easy appetizer is usually the first to be gone at parties!

1 package cream cheese, softened
1 can Skyline Chili
1 package shredded cheddar cheese
diced onions (optional)

Spread the cream cheese in the bottom of a microwaveable dish.  Pour the chili mixture over the cream cheese. Add in the onions if desired & then top with the cheese. Microwave until bubbly and serve with nacho chips or fritos.   If you want to order Skyline, click here & it will be shipped right to you!!!

Brass Lamp Transformation

Don't you just love it when you find something stashed in the basement & bring it back to life. We received this Westwood brass candlestick lamp as a wedding gift back a loooong time ago.  I was really surprised to find that its' still out there for sale.  Ignore the nice mess in the basement storage room!  I also found a Stiffel lamp at Goodwill that is going to get sprayed so that I have a pair:

A little of the silver spray paint & a new white drum shade from Garden Ridge ($14.99) and all ready to go!  Garden Ridge had the best price & selection I could find here in Cincy.

Here's the before space:
