Merry Christmas

Blogging has been a lot of fun for me this past year and I have enjoyed so many of the awesome blogs out there who have inspired me in so many ways.

I have no project to post, no recipe to share, just a heartfelt wish for all of you and for those who cannot enjoy the holiday's with their loved ones. Below is one of my favorite videos out on YouTube that I think will warm your heart this holiday season.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and all the best in 2011!

Adding snow to your blog...

My backyard covered in snow

Guess it's a little late for this, but I just added 'falling snow' to my blog this week.  With my background, it is kind of hard to see but I like the subtle addition.  To add to your blog, use this text in a new html gadget:

Frozen Cranberry Wreath

My husband is starting to wonder about me. He looked in the freezer & saw this:

I told him it's the start of my latest wreath that will hang outside!
When I saw this fun wreath on the fun Nest Full of Eggs blog, I knew I had to try it out.
Here is her's all complete:

How fun is that?!

Setting your Christmas Table

I will be having Christmas dinner this year at our house & have started thinking about how to arrange the table and the centerpiece. I think planning ahead and trying to get as much finished ahead of time is what keeps me from freaking out calm!!  I am planning on a gold & silver theme.  I usually go for my handy Fanny Farmer cookbook for the correct way to set a table. Here is a nice visual of where the forks/knives/glasses etc should be placed.

A good friend of mine recently had a dinner party and put out these simple, but elegant table pieces.

I also like to print off name cards so there is no confusion on seating. These are pretty neat as well to print off your dinner menu on nice card stock paper and can be found here.  Here is my menu for Christmas dinner:

And some elegant dining rooms for some inspiration:

Wishing you a busy Happy Monday!

Latest Read

My latest library pre-order book just came in & it's the 8th edition of Paula Begoun's, "Don't Go to the Cosmetics Counter Without Me".  If you've never checked out these books before or her website, it is really a great resource to use before you spend $$ on makeup.

Another resource is YouTube where you will find a ton of video reviews of new makeup & applications. With all the holiday parties going on it's fun to check out a new evening look or a quick day look!  Here is one vlogger I've found that is really useful & loves to  find quality makeup at the drugstore. She talks about a makeup line called E.L.F. (Eyes Lips Face) that sells at Target & online as well as other bargain buys at the drugstore which would make awesome stocking stuffers:

Updated Lamp

I've been wanting to update this lamp for awhile now & have been inspired by several bloggers who have also updated their lampshades with fabric.  Here is the waverly fabric I bought from for a great price & delivery was fast:

And, here is my bathroom lamp before:

I used fabric glue to attach it to the shade. It really was easy & quick!

And my minimal Christmas decoration in the bathroom which I just spray painted from red and green to white . Like everything else in my house!

Enjoy your Tuesday!

My favorite Christmas Song...

Michael McDonald singing 'On Christmas Morning' written by Kenny Loggins & David Foster?!  It
doesn't get much better than that.

Random Friday

I seriously need to get going on the Christmas shopping but at least I have my list written. I have bought a few gifts & am thinking about some of these.  For example, how about this faux-croc tray that some talented bloggers could probably make:

Or this warm leopard throw. I found one at Hobby Lobby & 50% off this week:

Love this awesome Esprit coat:

Not long ago I blogged about looking for gray riding boots. Yah, I found a great pair & you won't believe from what store!  And, the best news, they are really comfortable!

I have to give thanks to this blogger for tipping me off to these boots. Doesn't she look too cute in her outfit she put together from stuff from Goodwill?!!

And, last but not least, how about this cashmere sweater dress? Can you tell I've been on a gray kick?

Love it but might be a bit high priced for me. Have you ever shopped Gorsuch? Their catalog is great to check out for ideas.

I've been decorating around the house & a little outside though it's hard to see in the pic below:

Wishing you a Happy Friday!

Christmas Wish List...

This year, I have 1 item 2 items on my 'wish list' that I am really hoping come through.  We have a large stone  (wood burning) fireplace in our great room that has been used a lot over the years.

There is only 1 problem. For some reason in the spring when it starts warming up outside, the fireplace smell lingers in the house. We've cleaned it out & had the chimney swept. Sooo, for my gift this year, I am asking for new white birch gas logs!  Gasp says the real wood burning folks.   Sorry, I'm over it & am looking  forward to a clean burn & one that I can turn on with the remote!

And 1 more item I hope to get:

What do you say Santa?

New Wreath!

Thought I'd join a lot of other bloggers who are making these easy coffee filter wreaths and here is a great tutorial on how to make them.  I used these supplies & used pins instead of the glue gun:

This was a quick and fun project.  I am happy with my new wreath for the back door!

Hope you enjoy your Tuesday!

New Blog Fav!

No, this isn't my new bedroom, although I wish it were.
It's from one of my newly found favorite blogs, Studioten25. You need to check out the talented Abbe!

Happy Friday!
